Actually Welcome to the Concept of the derivatives.

Hence, here

y = 6x^2 -4x +17

so, dy/dx = d(6x^2-4x+17)/dx

===> hence, dy/dx = 12x -4 ( used formula d(x^n) /dx = nx^n-1 )

======> dy/dx = 12x-4
