Answer: x = -1
Work:
-(x + 6)
-x - 6
-2 + 3x = -x - 6
Put x to one side of the equation. This one will be on the left side. Add x to do so.
-2 + 4x = -6
Isolate x by adding 2.
4x = -4
Divide by 4 to isolate x for the final time.
x = -1
