The total cost in dollars y renting a kayak for x hours at a campground is modeled by the equation y=4.2x 15. a competitor offers rental according to the model y=3.2x 20.

There is only one solution to this system of equations.

You first need to find their intersection. After setting the right-hand sides of the equations to be equal to each other, and subtracting 3.2 from both sides, we find that x = 5. We can substitute 5 back into the original equations. If we use the first equation, 4.2(5) + 15, y is equal to 36.

The lines only intersect at one point (5, 36) and are not parallel, therefore there is only one solution.
