a)The surface area that needs to be painted is 122.54 in²

b)The number of can of paint required to paint 122.54 in² is 4 cans.

c) The cost of painting required s surface area is a $142.

How to determine surface area of a cylinder.

The Can is cylindrical

Given that

h = 5 in, r = 3 in

a) Surface area to be painted = curved surface area + area of top

S.A = πr² + 2πrh

= πr(r + 2h)

= 3.142 * 3(3 + 2(5))

= 122.54 in²

The surface area that needs to be painted is 122.54 in²

b) Given that 1L can of paint covers 30 in²

The number of can of paint required to paint 122.54 in² is

= 122.54/30

= 4 cans of 1L each.

The number of can of paint required to paint 122.54 in² is 4 cans.

c) Given that costs per can is $35

4 cans cost 4 * 35

= approx $142 to paint.

The cost of painting required s surface area is a $142.
