Brooke wanted to convert some money from pounds (£) into euros (€) so that she would receive €5382. Brooke converted her money on Tuesday when the exchange rate was £1 = €1.15. On Wednesday, the exchange rate was £1 = €1.17. How much more did Brooke spend on Tuesday than she would have if she had converted her money on Wednesday?

Answer: for £80 more

Explanation:

To receive 5382€ on Tuesday Brooke needs:

5382/1.15=

£4680

To receive 5382€ оn Wednesday Brooke needs:

5382/1.17=

£4600

Thus,

4680-4600=

£80

Answer:

she spent £80 more on Tuesday than on Wednesday

Explanation:

Tuesday she spent = £4680

1 = €1.15

x = €5382

cross multiply

x = £4680

Wednesday she spent = £4600

£1 = €1.17

x = €5382

cross multiply

x = £4600

the difference is £80

(5382/1.15) - (5382/1.17) = 80
