The denominator of a fraction is 7 more than the numerator. If both the numerator and the denominator are decreased by 3, the resulting fraction is equivalent to 5/12. Find the fraction.

Answer: The original fraction is 8/15

Explanation:

The part about the 7 more than the numerator is not needed. All you have to do is add 3 to the numerator and 3 to the denominator.

5+3=8

&

12+3=15

So

8/15
