PVC can be glued well with solvent cement wherein it melts somewhat and then sticks together really well as if it was welded, which is really convenient. But I can't find anything similar online for PET. Some sources say there just isn't.

Is there really no room temperature solvent for PET?

The only thing in my experience that holds PET together is this glue which still does it quite poorly and doesn't seem to melt it, only adheres to it somewhat.

Final answer:

PET does not have a room temperature solvent cement like PVC. Adhesives can be used, but they only adhere to PET somewhat poorly.

Step-by-step explanation:

PET (polyethylene terephthalate) is a thermoplastic polymer that is commonly used in clothing, containers, and engineering resins.

Unlike PVC, PET does not have a room temperature solvent cement that can effectively bond it together. The only option is to use adhesives that adhere to PET somewhat poorly. These adhesives do not melt the PET, but rather create a bond with its surface.
