From the isolated town of Fitzroy Crossing in the Kimberley region of Western Australia, June Oscar AO is a proud Bunuba woman. She has devoted many hours to reduce Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and is a fervent supporter of social justice, women's problems, and Indigenous Australian languages (FASD).
The Kimberley Land Council's deputy director, the Kimberley Language Resource Center's chair, the Kimberley Interpreting Service's chief investigator, and the WA's Lililwan Project's chief investigator are just a few of the important positions June has held.
