get both values to the same y value,
multiply the first equation by 7

7x+7y=14
2x+7y=9

now minus the second one from the first
5x=5, therefore x=1

now substitute the value of x into any equation

1+y=2,
we already know the value of x is 1 so we minus it,
y=1

x=1 and y=1
