They were annoyed. They hired John Lind to write a counterargument to the Declaration of Independence called Answer to the Declaration of the American Congress, where he mocked the declaration.

The colonists didn't care for what John Lind wrote and later, King George III declared the American colonies as a state of rebellion and sent troops over by August 1776.
