When an object is already in motion, why is energy required to stop it?

Answer:

In my opinion when you are running or an object is at motion it produces KE or kinetic energy. and even the state when you aren't running or object is not at motion PE or potential energy is produce you cannot say that there is no energy and because also energy is always positive even negative force ( force opposing the direction of motion ) works by positive energy.
