Given:

-8 + x = 4y - 16

Add 16 to both sides of the equation:

-8 + x + 16 = 4y

Divide both sides of the equation by 4:

(1)/(4)x + 4 = y

Reflexive property and combine like terms:

y =
(1)/(4)x + 2

Now, we will graph. The 2 is our y-intercept and the
(1)/(4) is our slope, graphed as "rise over run." This means we will rise one unit up and run four units right.
