Answer:

Explanation:

First convert the equation 6x - 5y = 4 into intercept form: y = mx + b

6x - 5y = 4

Subtract 6x

-6x + 6x - 5y = 4 - 6x

-5y = - 6x + 4

Divide but -5

-5y/-5 = -6x/-5 + 4/-5

y = 6/5x - 4/5

The slope or m is 6/5

To create a parallel line the equation has to have the same slope, so now we solve for b using the point (4, -7)

-7 = 6/5(4) + b

Multiply

-7 = 24/5 + b

Subtract

-24/5 + -7 = 24/5 + b -24/5

b = -59/5

Set up the problem

y = 6/5x - 59/5

The answer is:

y = 6/5x - 59/5
