Read the Text Before Answering the Questions

My brother and sister were both a great help during my homeschooling. My brother is a Math wizard. He made me understood the concepts presented under the "What Is It" part of my Math module. He prepared many examples for me to learn better. However, he was strict and hot-tempered. He easily got irritated every time I forgot the quadratic equation formula and scolded me right away when I committed mistakes in solving problems. He did not listen to my reasons for according to him all boys should be clever in Math and that my excuses were not acceptable. My sister, on the other hand, was good in English. She explained the readings in my English module excellently, which made me learn to love the subject. Moreover, she was so sympathetic when I committed mistakes in answering the exercises and guided me in recognizing and correcting them as well. I think most sisters are like her.

Final answer:

The homeschooling sibling's impressions are categorized into positive and negative. The brother is described as strict and hot-tempered but a Math wizard, while the sister is viewed solely positively, skilled in English and sympathetic.

Step-by-step explanation:

The student's question involves analyzing the positive and negative impressions of the sibling’s behaviors described in the given text. To provide a response, we will construct a grid showcasing the positive and negative qualities that the student observed in their brother and sister during their homeschooling experience.

Negative Impressions

  • Brother: The brother was strict and hot-tempered, getting irritated easily especially when the student forgot the quadratic equation formula. He also scolded the student for mistakes and was unwilling to accept excuses, believing that boys should inherently be good at math.
  • Sister: No negative impression of the sister is mentioned in the text.

Positive Impressions

  • Brother: Despite his temperament, the brother is described as a Math wizard who helps the student understand math concepts by providing many examples.
  • Sister: The sister is skilled in English and teaches it in a way that fosters a love for the subject. She is sympathetic and understanding, helping the student recognize and correct mistakes in a compassionate manner.

While the brother’s approach is more rigid and could lead to a stressful learning environment, his expertise in math is undeniable. On the other hand, the sister’s supportive teaching style not only assists in learning but also in developing a positive attitude towards education.
