Mr. Allen wanted to fill balloons for a party. He rented a helium tank that contained 0. 4 cubic meters of helium gas. He was concerned that the gas would not fill many balloons, but it filled 27 large balloons! why was the small tank of helium gas able to fill so many balloons?.

Answer:

P V = N R T

P V = constant if temperature and number of moles of gas are constant

P2 / P1 = V1 / V2

The pressure of the gas in the balloons will be much smaller than the pressure of the gas in the tank - so a small volume of gas can be used to fill a much larger volume at lower pressure
