Janis was offered two different jobs when she graduated from college. She made the graph and table to show how much she would earn over time at each job.

When will Janis’s salary be the same for job 1 and job 2, and how much will she be earning at that point?
The salaries will be the same in year 20, and she will be earning $80,000.
The salaries will be the same in year 16, and she will be earning $70,000.
The salaries will be the same in year 12, and she will be earning $60,000.
The salaries will be the same in year 10, and she will be earning $55,000.

What does a graph and a table do?

Graphs help viewers understand trends by providing a visual representation of data relationships and patterns. Line graphs, bar graphs, pie charts, scatter plots, and more are examples of common graph types. Every variety has a distinct function.

Data is presented in tables using rows and columns in an organized manner. A distinct piece of information is contained in each cell of the table. When presenting detailed numerical data, tables are helpful because they make it simple to compare values within rows or columns.

We can see from the graph that the equation of the line is;

y = 2000x + 40000

Where x stands for the number of years then;

y = 2000(20) + 40000

= 80000

Again we can see from the table that in job 2 she will earn 80,000 in 20 years.
