16 assume the number max is thinking is x if max cubes his number x^3-x^2=448 we can write the equation as that now we find the value of x rearranging the equation x^3-x^2-448=0 now we factorize the equation (x-16)(x^2)+16x+28)=0 setting each factor equal to 0 from the first equation we find x=16 therefore the number max is thinking is 16
