To have no solutions or infinite solutions it must have and equation on both sides of the equals sign (=).

For it to have infinitely solutions the problems on both sides would need to be equal to each other. Then x could be anything and it would still always be equal.

For there to be no solution the sides would have to the same variable such as x but not the same constant values. Which means if you simplified the equations on both sides they would not be equal and so there can't be the same x value for each side for it to be equal.
