The slope of a line is referred to as "rise/run"
Basically, you take any given spot. For example, from x = 0 to x = 2. The run is 2, because thats how much x value the line covers. So, in that "run" how much do you go up or go down? Lets say in those 2 x's that you travelled, how much did the height change? If you changed by going up 4 units, it would be (rise/run) 4/2 = 2. The slope would be 2. That means that for every time x increases by 1, Y goes up 2.
