The answer is 48/50 so 96% equal 96/100. So 96/100 is equivalent to 192/200. Then we need to figure out what small fraction is equivalent to 192/200, I think 48/50 would make sense because 192 x 50 = 9600, and 200 x 48 = 9600, so I think that the fraction of the plants that were still alive is 48/50

Answer:

\sf (7)/(8)

Explanation:

If
(1)/(8) of Evan's tomato plants died while he was on holidays, then the fraction of plants that were still alive is the complement of this fraction.

The complement of a fraction
\sf (a)/(b) is
\sf 1 - (a)/(b).

In this case, 1/8 of the plants died, so the fraction that is still alive is:

\sf 1 - (1)/(8)

To find the common denominator, multiply the numerator and denominator of
\sf (1)/(8) by 8:

\begin{aligned} 1 - (1)/(8) & = (8)/(8) - (1)/(8) \\\\ &= (8-1)/(8)\\\\ &= (7)/(8) \end{aligned}

Therefore,
\sf (7)/(8) of Evan's tomato plants were still alive after his holidays.
