A braced column 500mm*400mm with M30 concrete and Fe 500 steel is bent in single curvature. The effective length of the column is 6.5m and the unsupported length is 7m. The factored axial load is 2500KN, and the factored moments about the major axis is 250 KN and 200KN at the top and bottom respectively. The factored moments about the minor axis are 120KN and 100KN at the top and bottom. Calculate the total factored moments for which the column should be designed.

To calculate the total factored moments for the column, add the moments at the top and bottom for both the major and minor axis.

To calculate the total factored moments for which the column should be designed, we need to determine the moments about both the major and minor axis.

The factored moment about the major axis is given as 250 KN at the top and 200 KN at the bottom. The factored moment about the minor axis is given as 120 KN at the top and 100 KN at the bottom.

To calculate the total factored moments, we add the moments at the top and bottom for both the major and minor axis. Therefore, the total factored moments are:

Major Axis: 250 KN + 200 KN = 450 KN

Minor Axis: 120 KN + 100 KN = 220 KN
