One of the largest myths about taste buds and taste sensation, is that there are particular types of tastebuds in different areas [of the mouth] for different flavors/sensations. Many people use salt on the tip of the tongue (apparently it tastes sweet) as an example to prove this point, yet the sweet flavor is nearly a placebo effect. All tastebuds have the capacity to taste any and all flavors or sensations.
