Why were stamps sold?
The reason for the selling of stamps by the British included the fact that Georgia was the youngest colony and still financially dependent on Great Britain and Georgia’s royal governor was loyal to King George III.
The reason for the first selection is that Georgia was still a young colony that relied on Britain so to survive, they had to comply with their own requirements which included the selling of stamps. Also, since the governor wanted to impress the King, he did things like selling stamps.
