The equation which shows the relationship between x and y is : y = x + 3

The equation which can be used to express the relationship is the slope-intercept intercept equation in the form ;

  • y = bx + c
  • b = slope or rate of change; c = intercept

From the question,

  • the rate of change = 1 inch per hour
  • Intercept = 3 (Already existing amount of snow cove

Now we have;

  • y = x + 3
