DIscrediting message are those that do not give value to the ones who are deserving of them. They seem to disregard the importance of the subjects of the sentences and remove them from the honor that should normally be accorded them.
People who are given discrediting messages are not happy with it because their value seems diminished or completely removed. So, messages of this nature are labeled as discrediting.
