Answer is Length = 45 cm

Step by step

We know the perimeter is 100 cm
We know the width is 5 cm
We are looking for it’s length

The formula for perimeter
P = 2L + 2W

100 = 2L + (2)(5)

100 = 2L + 10

Subtract 10 from both sides to isolate variable

100 - 10 = 2L + 10 - 10

90 = 2L

Divide both sides by 2 to solve

90/2 = 2/2 L

45 = Length

length = 45 cm

using the formula:

p=2(l + w)

solving for length:

1= p/2 - w = 100/2 -5 = 45 cm
