Given:

The school has 4 large bulletin boards that each need 9 yards of border.

So, the number of borders = 4 x 9 = 36 yards

There is also a small bulletin board that only needs 12 feet of border.

So, the total borders = 36 yards and 12 feet

Convert from yard to foot

1 yard = 3 feet

So, 36 yards = 36 x 3 = 108 feet

So, the total borders in feet = 108 + 12 = 120 feet

The border is sold in 40- foot rolls

So, the number of rolls =

(120)/(40)=(12)/(4)=3

So, the answer will be:

The number of rolls will the teachers use = 3 rolls
