Given:

Directed numbers are numbers with signs.

When multiplying, the following rules apply;

$\begin{gathered} -*-=+ \\ +*+=+ \\ -*+=- \\ +*-=- \end{gathered}$

Hence,

$\begin{gathered} -7*-8=(-*-)(7*8) \\ =+56 \end{gathered}$

Therefore, the answer is +56
