We have the functions f(x) and g(x) = f(x) + k, where k is a constant.

To calculate k, we can do:

\begin{gathered} g(x)=f(x)+k \\ k=g(x)-f(x) \end{gathered}

As k is a constan, we pick a known value of g(x) and f(x) for a value of x, and calculate k.

For example, we can write:

k=g(0)-f(0)=2-(-2)=2+2=4

The value of k is k=4.

Note: If we test with x=1, we have k=g(1)-f(1)=4-0=4.
