A laptop computer requires 24 volts to operate properly. A transformer with 600 turns in the primary needs to have how many turns in the secondary to operate the computer from a 120 V source?

In order to relate the the voltage, current and number of turns we use the next rule:

constant=(V_1)/(V_2)=(n_1)/(n_2)=(I_2)/(I_1)

With this and the information of voltages and turns, we can solve it

\begin{gathered} (V_1)/(V_2)=(n_1)/(n_2) \\ (24)/(120)=(n_1)/(600) \\ \\ n_1=120 \end{gathered}

Answer, n1=120 turns
