You need to write the Mixed number as an Improper fraction:

- Multiply the Whole number by the denominator of the fraction.

- Add the product to the numerator.

- Use the original denominator.

Then:

2(3)/(4)gal=(((2)(4)+3)/(4))gal=(11)/(4)gal

Knowing that she also had 1 gallon of vanilla ice cream and 1 gallon of chocolate left over, you can add all the amounts given in the exercise, in order to calculate the total amount of ice cream (in gallons) she has left over. Then, you get this result:

(11)/(4)gal+1gal+1gal=(19)/(4)gal

The answer is:

(19)/(4)gal
