The rhombus has four congruent sides and 2 perpendicular diagonals

We can find the area of the rhombus using two methods:

1) if we have the side length and the height of the rhombus

Area = base * height

2) if we have the length of the diagonals

Area = 0.5 * the product of the diagonals

For the given rhombus:

As shown: we have the length of half the diagonals

So, the length of the diagonals will be :


\begin{gathered} d_1=2\cdot6=12 \\ d_2=2\cdot8=16 \end{gathered}

So, area =


\text{Area}=(1)/(2)\cdot12\cdot16=(1)/(2)\cdot192=96\operatorname{cm}^2^{}

So, the answer is : area of the rohmbus = 96 square cm.
