Sulfur is an element that belongs to the 6A family or also known as chalcogens, in this specific family, as it is in the periodic table in general, the number of the family usually will indicate the number of electrons in the outer most shell of the atom, for example all the halogens (7A) have 7 electrons, and all of the chalcogens (6A) have 6 electrons, in order to fill this energy level, sulfur and the chalcogens will need 2 more electrons, then it will be obeying the Octet rule
