Question 7

The probability formula is defined as the possibility of an event to happen is equal to the ratio of the number of favorable outcomes and the total number of outcomes.

P\mleft(E\mright)=\frac{Number\text{ of favourble outcome}}{Total\text{ Number of outcomes}}

In this case, the number of favorable outcomes in our case is the number of people who lied = 28 +14 =42

The total number of outcomes will be the sum of all outcomes = 28 +14+ 18+40 =100

Thus, The probability of selecting a subject who lied will be

P(E)=\frac{Number\text{ of favourble outcome}}{Total\text{ Number of outcomes}}=(42)/(100)=0.420

Thus, the probability of selecting those who lied will be 0.420
