The relationship of the data characterized by the correlation coefficient values given are ;

  • -0.91 = strong negative
  • 0.54 = moderate positive
  • 0.87 = strong positive
  • 0.07 = weak positive

What is Correlation Coefficient?

The correlation coefficient is a measured variable which tells the strength and direction of association between two variables. It ranges between -1 to 1. With values close to 1 and -1 meaning strong positive and strong negative association respectively. A correlation coefficient value of 0 means there is no relationship between the variables.

Therefore , the association portrayed using the correlation coefficient are : strong negative, moderate positive, strong positive and weak poitive respectively.
