The solution to the simultaneous equations are: x = 153/13 and y = 18.846

How to solve simultaneous equations?

The system of equations are:

y = −²/₃x + 11 -----(eq 1)

y + 7 = ³/₂(x − 5) ------(eq 2)

Put −²/₃x + 11 for y in eq 2 to get:

−²/₃x + 11 + 7 = ³/₂(x − 5)

−²/₃x + 18 = ³/₂x - ¹⁵/₂

Multiply through by 6 to get:

-4x + 108 = 9x - 45

13x = 153

x = 153/13

y = −²/₃(153/13) + 11

y = 18.846
