an airplane travels 1662 km Against The Wind in 3 hours and 2142 kill them with the wind in the same amount of time what is the rate of the plane in the still air and what is the rate of the Wind

Distance 1 = 1662 km

Time 1 = 3 hours

Distance 2= 2142

Time 2= 3 hours

Then

Distance1/Time1= V1 - V2

and

Distance2/Time2= V1 + V2

So then

1662/3= 554 = V1 - V2

2142/3= 706 = V1 + V2

Now solve this system by elimination

V1 = (554 + 706)/2= 1260/2= 630 km/h

and

V2= 706 km/h - 630 km/h= 76 km /h

Then answers are

Velocity of plane =630 km/h

Velocity of air= 76 km/h
