Substract 18 1/2 from 60 to determine the length of remaining rope.

\begin{gathered} 60-18(1)/(2)=60-(37)/(2) \\ =(120-37)/(2) \\ =(83)/(2) \\ =41.5 \end{gathered}

So length of remaining rope is 41.5 inches.
