El Nino means "The boy" La Nina means "The girl"

Since there are gender specific words in Spanish, El is gender specific to boys and men. La is gender specific to girls and women. The difference for the words Nino and Nina, it's- a one letter difference. Nino had an O at the end, and Nina has an A at the end.

El Niño stands or translates to “ the boy “ while “La Niña” translates to “ the girl”

They are both for different genders and it would be a major mistake if used for the describing or talking about the opposite sex / gender , if used for the opposite gender / sex the sentence would be immediately incorrect
