A farmer is building a chicken coop. She digs for the support poles. The bottom of the first hole is -6 1/4 ft from ground level. The bottom of the second hole is 1/3 as far from the ground level as the first hole.

What is the position of the bottom of the second hole, relative to ground level

The first hole was dig up to
6(1)/(4) feet below from the ground level.

The second hole was dig up to 1/3 as far as the first hole from ground level.

So: second hole = first hole ÷ 3

=
-6(1)/(4) / 3

=
-(6(4)+ 1)/(4) * (1)/(3)

=
-(25)/(4) * (1)/(3)

=
-(25)/(12)

=
-2(1)/(12)
