We can write the linear equation as y = -1.5x + 10.1

How to find the linear equation?

If a linear equation passes through two points (x₁, y₁) and (x₂, y₂), then the slope of the line is:

a = (y₂ - y₁)/(x₂ - x₁)

Here we have the two points (1.8,7.4) and (1.2,8.3), replacing that in the formula we will get:

a = (8.3 - 7.4)/(1.2 - 1.8) = -1.5

Then we can write the line as:

y = -1.5x + b

Replacing the values of the point (1.8, 7.4) we will get:

7.4 = -1.5*1.8 + b

7.4 + 1.5*1.8 = b

10.1 = b

The linear equation is:

y = -1.5x + 10.1
