When tumor suppressor proteins are overproduced, they tend to become hyperactive in inhibiting cell division and growth. This excessive inhibition lead to the suppression of the body's ability to control abnormal cell growth and prevent the development of tumors.
Tumor suppressor proteins helps in regulating the cell cycle and preventing the formation of cancerous cells by repairing damaged DNA or triggering cell death (apoptosis) in cells with severe DNA damage.
