3xyz² Degree: 2

What is degree of a polynomial

The degree of a polynomial is the highest power of the variable (or variables) in the polynomal expression.

In a polynomial, each term is the product of a coefficient and one or more variables raised to non-negative integer exponents.

The degree of the polynomial is determined by the term with the highest exponent.

In the case of 4, the number is a constant and not a polynomial. For others, the highest degree is written out as above

2z the z has exponent of 1 and usually not written
