Prompt

Many teens suffer from mental disorders. Today there are a number of treatment options available to these teens. Imagine
that one of your friends is taking medication for a mental disorder, but they don't like the side effects of the drug, so they plan
on not taking it anymore without telling their parents or doctors. What should you do?

Answer:

You could recommend that they talk to their parents and doctor. Their doctor could help them get a new medication that could help them without some of the side effects. You could tell your friend about some of the possible effects of not taking their medication. There could be symptoms just as bad as the side effects. If they talk to their doctor and family before stopping their medication they could avoid these effects. Remind your friend that they are talking this medication for a reason. If they stop taking it there could be serious consequences. The symptoms of their mental disorder will still be there when they stop taking their medication.
