2x+2(x-5)=6

Step 1

eliminate the parenthesis, use distributive property

\begin{gathered} 2x+2(x-5)=6 \\ 2x+2x-10=6 \end{gathered}

Step 2

add similar terms

\begin{gathered} 2x+2x-10=6 \\ 4x-10=6 \end{gathered}

Step 3

add 10 in both sides

\begin{gathered} 4x-10=6 \\ 4x-10+10=6+10 \\ 4x=16 \end{gathered}

Step 4

divide each side by 4

\begin{gathered} 4x=16 \\ (4x)/(4)=(16)/(4) \\ x=4 \end{gathered}

so, the answer is x=4
