Adrian caught a virus while staying with his grandmother a few years later his mother and sister got the same virus. The virus could spread through touch and direct contact. However, Adrian did not contract the virus this time even though he was living with his mother and sister. Why did he not get sick?

Final answer:

Adrian did not get sick because he had already been exposed to the virus and developed immunity to it.

Step-by-step explanation:

Adrian did not get sick that time because he had already been exposed to the virus during his previous stay with his grandmother. When we are exposed to a virus, our immune system produces antibodies that help protect us from getting sick if we encounter the virus again. These antibodies can recognize the virus and prevent it from causing an infection. So, even though Adrian was living with his infected mother and sister, his immune system was able to defend against the virus because he had already developed immunity to it.
