A bus has room for 40 passengers. Each ride costs $2. On Monday morning, there were 45 people at the first stop who wanted to get on. When the bus left the first stop, what was the quantity of rides supplied at $2?

Answer:

Either $90 or $80 is the answer.

Though the bus have but 40 seats, all 45 people can get on the bus , but 5 of them will have to stand. In this case, it will be 45 time $2 which equal $90.

But if only 40 of them get on the bus, and the rest 5 people wait for another bus, then it will be 40 times $2 which equals $80.
