What was the conditions?
The direct cause of the Great War, which brought into question nationalism, militarism, alliances, and imperialism, was the assassination of Austria-Hungary's Archduke Franz Ferdinand. A terrorist organization known as the Black Hand, which supported Serbian nationalism, dispatched teams to kill the Archduke in June 1914.
World War I, also referred to as the Great War or the First World War in historical contexts, lasted from 1914 until 1918 and was a worldwide battle. The Central Powers and the Allied Powers fought each other in it. There was fighting throughout portions of Asia, the Pacific, Africa, the Middle East, and Europe.
