In the excerpt from Little Women that you provided, Aunt March is portrayed as an elderly woman who is strict and set in her ways. She is not one to show affection or petting to anyone, but she does have a soft spot for her nephew’s children, including Amy. Aunt March tries to be kind to Amy, but she makes many mistakes in the process. She is not very good at hiding wise lessons under pleasant plays, and her long, prosy talks can be quite boring. She has a lot of rules and orders that she expects Amy to follow, and she can be quite demanding. Despite all of this, Aunt March does care about Amy and wants to help her become a well-behaved young lady

The excerpt also mentions that some old people can keep young at heart in spite of wrinkles and gray hairs. They can sympathize with children’s little cares and joys, make them feel at home, and can hide wise lessons under pleasant plays, giving and receiving friendship in the sweetest way

This is not a description that fits Aunt March’s character.

I hope this helps!
