Dominic stopped at a gas station on his way to work. He put 11.5 gallons of gas in the tank,

and he also purchased a bottle of water for $1.99. The total amount that he owed was $37.64.
Let g be the price per gallon of gas. Set up and solve an equation to find the price that
Dominic paid per gallon.

g:3.1; y=3.1x+1.99

We know the

total is 37.64

the bottle is 1.99

the amount of gallons is 11.5

We're looking for the cost of gas per gallon so we'd set up an equation such as 11.5g+1.99=37.44

Subtract 1.99

11.5g=35.45

Then divide by 11.5

g=3.1

Then to set up the equation your g vaule is your slope and the bottle is you y-intercept

Hope this helped!
